The Morning Card — July 16, 2026

Last night

No slate last night — league off day.

Tonight

1 games on the slate — the marquee: Mets @ Phillies at 2026-07-16T23:10:00.0000000+00:00.

Aaron Nola has historically owned the Mets — a .220 batting average against and a 30% strikeout rate. That history matters against a starter whose season has been shaky: Nola carries a 5.79 ERA, even though he struck out eight in his last outing. The Mets counter with Christian Scott (3.17 ERA), who tossed five scoreless innings in his July 8 start. Juan Soto has taken Nola deep five times, and the 98°F heat at Citizens Bank Park should make those long balls carry even more.
